On Wednesday evening we'll gather in the shul to begin the process of celebrating the Ten Days of Awe; those ten days between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. They are heady times and they are bookmarked with the sound of the shofar.
For much of the year you and I may go about our lives as if we are sleep-walking. It can be like Ground Hog Day...we wake, dress, work, eat, watch some TV and go to sleep. However, it is the sound of the shofar that calls us to "wake from our slumber" our...spiritual slumber and come to the realization that everything we have is a gift...from G-d.
On Wednesday night we will start that process of attempting to right the wrongs we have committed, to seek forgiveness from those we may have hurt and to seek forgiveness from G-d for the missed opportunities to bless His Name.
We look forward to services at 7PM on Wednesday the 24th and then again on Thursday the 25th at 9:30. May you have a Blessed Day!
Adas Israel is the Jewish Congregation of Mason City, Iowa. All are welcome.
