This week we read the Torah Portion Ve'eira (Exodus 6:2 - 9:35) and there are lots and lots of lessons that make sense even today. The Torah has a unique way of being timeless.
One of the plagues that was visited on Egypt was that of frogs. Aharon stretched out his hand and super-sized frog hopped out of the river and began to march down the main road towards Pharaoh’s palace. How did the Egyptians react? They attacked the frog with sticks and stones trying to kill it. However, each time they hit the frog it opened it's mouth and out came even more frogs.
This went on and on and soon the entire nation was a nation of frogs. So, why was it that the Egyptians didn't just stop hitting the frog?
Anger. Anger consumes us and the more angry we become...the more we destroy and sometimes what we destroy is ourselves and that which we love.
Anger eats away happiness and causes health problems for the person who is angry and those in his or her way. In a moment of anger, if one would step back for a minute and not take action, the whole thing would just fade away.
We'll talk about that this week and so much more.
OH...and we'll also have a Baby Naming with the Anderson Family! It doesn't get any better that that. See you in Shul this Erv Shabbat at 6:30PM and the Midrash begins at 10AM on Saturday.
See you in shul!
