Being Neighborly with Reproach?

Adas Israel is the Jewish Congregation of Mason City, Iowa and each week we attempt to offer some Torah Talk with regard to the weekly Torah Portion.  This week we are in Leviticus 16 - 20 (Acharei Mot & Kedoshim).

So what does it mean that we are called to "reprove your fellow" and at the same time "love your neighbor as yourself"?  Have a peek at this quick video example.

 

Adas Israel will hold services this Friday Evening at 7:00PM and on Shabbat we'll gather at 10:00AM for the Midrash or the conversation about what the Torah means for us...today.

What STILL Celebrating Passover?

This past week a non-Jewish friend of mine asked me how Passover "was".  When I explained to him that Passover was still going on he, sort of doubted it.  "Wait, I thought Passover was last Saturday."

It's a common misconception and it provided a great teachable moment. I'll let this video share with you some thoughts on why we celebrate holidays for "so long".

Happy Passover from Adas Israel

Welcome to Adas Israel the Jewish Congregation of Mason City on the Eve of Passover! Jewish homes have seen a flurry of activity over the past few weeks as families clean their homes and get ready for the holiday...one of the most celebrated of the Jewish Calendar.

The matzah here...the greens are ready the egg is being roasted it's time for Passover!
